Thoughts of things that hit the reef…

With this post I like to mention something I noticed on this weekend. Don’t take it too seriouse though.

Because it is the year of the upcomming Bundestags election, all parties are throwing in their funny statements of what the will do now to protect and serve the people. For example a few weeks ago the German Federal Minister of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth Ursula von der Leyen initiated a bill to block child pornography for german internet users. Mrs. Minister, the proud owner of seven childs herself, came, out of a sudden, to the conclusion that the turnover for child pornography, in the internet and because of the internet, had spiked in the last years.

So she wanted to do something, long story short. She declared that the BKA (the German pendant for the FBI) should create a black list with internet adresses and all German ISPs have to block these sites for their users. And as a funny bonus, each page visit would then be registered by the BKA and the internet user would then be prosecuted. It’s for the children! The internet community had somthing against the secret list of blocked sites. How can they make sure they would only block child porn, if there is almost no control of this list? And what if some user visits such sites by accident or some male ware lead him there? But in the end, all criticism was washed away by the ultimativ argument “It’s for the children!”. Okay they promised not to save the page visits, but we will see what happens after the election.

However, the PIRATEN-party organized a demonstration against this law in many cities in Germany on Saturday the 20th of June . I attended the demonstration in Frankfurt am Main and it was very bad organized, infact, I have never attended such a bad demonstration before and I have seen some Antifa demos.

Short Interrupt, what are the PIRATEN-party? This party, translated pirate party, was founded on Jan. 2006 in Sweden and it’s German branch on Oct. 2006. It has it’s origin in the internet community, also but not solely around file sharing. In short, the party proclames to fight for more data privacy and a better copyright.

On the same day the Iranian people demonstrated all over in Germany. In Frankfurt they actually hijacked the PIRATEN demo. One of them grabbed the megaphone from a nerdy boy and demand that the Iranian government should conduct a free election. Some time later another Iranian guy tried the same thing with yet another nerdy boy. Which was not even a bad thing, concidering that this particular nerdy boy was playing shitty music over his megaphone from something that must be a handcraftet MP3-player, because as we all know Microsoft and Apple and all major brands are bad, instead of yelling his demands to thouse who don’t communicate over the internet. But to my surprise, the nerdy one wasn’t that happy to let go of his instrument of power and fight for it. So the Iranian guy said something in rather short sentences and fell silent again. I had called that incidents funny but I meant no harm by it. Even then, when the Tagesschau, that is the German main newscast and please don’t mix it with the Wochenschau , only reported about the Iranian demonstrations and said nothing about the demonstration of the PIRATEN-party.

On this weekend then, there was another demonstration. This Saturday lots of gamers where demonstrating against the plans of the conservativ CDU/CSU-party to prohibit the creation and selling of so called “Killergames”, games like Half-Life, Quake, CS even WoW and WC3 and also Risko because you send human armys to death by rolling a dice. How horrobly and inhumane is that?.. Okay, okay, the latter one was a joke… a bad joke. However, the demonstrating gamers took even their keyboards with them to handle the real world and still feel connected to the virtual one. So again I was watching the Tagesschau on this day. And of cause they reported about the demonstration of Iranian people.

Wait WHAT?!!

They didn’t demonstrate in weeks? What’s with the important german youth which demonstrated against the oppression of old intollerant politicans who didn’t understand their culture? The same old politicans that claimed that the german youth is tired of politics because they are so stupid and lazy… WTF? So one can say it’s all about the public-law media who wouldn’t concern their old viewers with the uprising youth. But not on my watch! The public-law newscast is the only reliable source for information I got left! You cannot take this away from me you Iranians! You just want to supress the German internet youth, I have seen through your infamous plan to supress information about the uprising of us German nerds by conducting demonstrations on the same day as we do! I will no longer tollerate this!
